Two tools, two different jobs
Many owners ask whether a Facebook page is enough. The honest answer is that it depends on what you want it to do. A social page is built for regular posts, for answering comments and for keeping in touch with people who follow you. A website is built to answer a stranger’s question in a few seconds: what do you do, where are you, what does it cost, how do I reach you. These are different jobs, and neither tool does the other’s job well.
What a Facebook page does well
A page is quick to set up and free to use. It is a good place for news, photos from your daily work, special offers and conversations with regular customers. If your customers already live on the platform, it is the easiest way to remain visible to them. Nothing here argues against having a page.
Where a Facebook page falls short
- You do not own the platform. Layout, rules, reach and features are set by someone else and can change without notice.
- You cannot shape how a search engine sees your business. A page can appear in search results, but you do not control its title, its description or its structure.
- Information is hard to organise. Services, prices, team and opening hours end up buried between posts.
- Visitors who are not logged in may be interrupted by prompts, which makes a first visit less comfortable.
- It looks like every other page. It is difficult to show what is different about you.
None of this means a page is useless. It means the page cannot carry the whole job of being found and trusted by new customers.
What a website adds
A website belongs to you. You decide what the visitor sees first, how your services are described and which action comes next. Each page can carry its own title and description, so that a search such as “plumber Varna” or “dentist Varna” has a page to land on. The site works as the fixed address of your business: the Facebook post, the business card, the invoice and the Google listing can all point to it.
Where Bulgaria stands
In 2025, 79% of enterprises in the EU had a website (Eurostat). In Bulgaria, 70.6% of enterprises showed a very low level of digital intensity in 2023 (Eurostat, reported by BTA). I do not draw conclusions about any single business from these numbers, but they show that a clear, fast website still sets a company apart in many sectors. In Varna, with 35,601 active businesses and 150,031 employees in the region in 2024 (NSI), there is room for those that present themselves well.
How both work together
The simplest setup is this. The website is the base: services, prices or price logic, contact, opening hours, a few honest pictures and, if you like, a Bulgarian and an English version. The Facebook page is the daily voice: news, offers and photos. Each points to the other. Customers who find you through a search land on the website; customers who know you stay in touch via the page.
What it costs to start
A “Start” website of up to five pages, with Bulgarian and English, mobile optimisation and basic SEO, starts at €490 net. Managed Hosting is €24.90 per month, or €249 per year, and includes SSL, daily backups and updates, up to 30 minutes of changes per month and one mailbox of 50 GB, with a twelve-month minimum. Prices are net plus statutory VAT. See the pricing page and the article on website costs in Bulgaria for a full breakdown.
A short test: do you need a website now?
- New customers ask you for the address, opening hours or prices again and again.
- You want to be found when someone searches for your service in Varna.
- You serve foreign residents or visitors who search in English.
- You want to show your work in a way that is not buried between posts.
- You want a result you can point to on a card, an invoice or an email signature.
If you nod at two or more, a website is likely the right next step. Look at the examples page to see what different sectors look like in practice.

Frequently asked questions
Is a Facebook page enough for a business in Varna?
It is enough to stay in touch with people who already know you. It is not enough to be found, understood and trusted by new customers who search for your service, because you do not control how it appears or what it contains.
Can a Facebook page appear on Google?
It can appear, but you cannot shape its title, description or structure the way you can on your own website. A website gives you that control.
Do I have to stop using Facebook if I get a website?
No. The two work best together. The website is the fixed base, the page is the daily voice, and each links to the other.
How much does a simple business website in Varna cost?
A “Start” website of up to five pages in Bulgarian and English starts at €490 net. Hosting starts at €24.90 per month. Larger projects are quoted individually.
How quickly can the website be ready?
The time depends on how soon I receive texts and photos. After a short call you get a fixed quote and a schedule that fits your project.
